SURGICAL FLOW
ALTATUDE Asked to design better flow in a surgical department. Actions: Worked with architects, surgeons, nurses, patients, IT, and maintenance among others to create an appealing design. We observed flow through all areas of surgery, to include actions and behaviors of staff, clean up, communications and patient safety. This resulted in identifying a feasible opportunity for reducing from four entries to surgery down to one, designing communication flow through the use of technology, improving instrument tray readiness and quality and reducing leadtime for the patient. This also led to less stress for staff and providers.

ORGANIZATIONAL DESIGN
ALTATUDE was hired to partner with an executive team and develop a new organizational design to include roles and responsibilities. This required working with all departments of the company while also working with HR to revise job descriptions and market salaries once the details of new roles were complete. The org chart was also realigned after working with departments to assure positions and the correlating job descriptions were in sync assigning direct reporting relationships not to exceed eight. We also spearheaded the communication plan to ease the stress among employees. The result was that employee job descriptions were much closer to the job they were actually performing, direct reporting relationships were better allocated, titles of roles were more appropriate and communication to employees was completed through lunch and learns, town halls, emails, bulletins and newsletters.

LEADERSHIP COACHING
ALTATUDE was hired to coach teams of directors, vice presidents and SVPs on leadership skills. This client had several senior team leaders who had worked in the company many years and rose through attrition and seniority but most had not had any type of training to support the climb up the ladder. We began assessing knowledge of leadership skills, had team members engage in various personality assessments, problem solving skills and other critical thinking tools, reviewed their performance appraisals, had each complete a self-evaluation, spoke to their direct reports and then also engaged in discussing various leadership behaviors in those they personally admired and developed tiered accountabiity to place decision making at its lowest common denominator. This led to a team much more prepared to think critically, solve problems more efficiently and effectively and great transparency and respect across the organization.

LEAN TRANSFORMATION & STRATEGY DEPLOYMENT
ALTATUDE was asked to implement Strategic Planning and implement Lean across an organization. We initially completed a Lean Assessment which includes review of the entire company with ALTATUDE Proprietary Tools, which includes behaviors, culture, KPIs, and other areas. From this we worked closely with the CEO and COO to determine how much the organization could ingest over what rate of time. We then developed the Strategic Plan (aka Hoshin Kanri) an obeya room and a plan for training key individuals to become their internal experts focusing on key areas within the business for an extended period of time. This led to a complete turnaround of the business leading to the reallocation of resources, improved flow, all departments showing improvement in cost, quality, safety, delivery and morale. This was a pinnacle moment when the company saw for the first time the value of their discipline, commitment, accountability and transparency.
